FosteringConnections provides support for individuals and families affected by addiction, substance use, or related behavioral health concerns. Services are designed to help participants better understand substance-use patterns, identify contributing factors, strengthen motivation, develop healthier coping strategies, and connect with appropriate treatment and recovery resources.
Our services are supported by professionals who hold a Substance Use Disorder Counselor certification through one of California’s recognized certifying organizations: the California Association of DUI Treatment Programs (CADTP), the California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals (CCAPP), or the California Association for Alcohol/Drug Educators (CAADE). These credentials qualify certified individuals to provide counseling services within applicable alcohol and other drug programs and professional settings throughout California.
FosteringConnections is currently developing its specialized addiction and substance-use programming and is not presently represented as a DHCS-certified substance use disorder treatment program. Within our current professional scope, we provide education, counseling, prevention, early-intervention, recovery-support, care-coordination, and referral services.
How It Works
Services begin with a discussion of the participant’s concerns, strengths, circumstances, behavioral health needs, and recovery goals. Based on the participant’s needs and the scope of available services, support may include:
- Substance-use education and prevention
- Identification of patterns, triggers, and contributing factors
- Individual counseling addressing substance use and related behavioral health concerns
- Motivational support for healthier choices and behavioral change
- Development of coping, emotional-regulation, and problem-solving skills
- Relapse-prevention and recovery-support planning
- Education about the relationship between substance use and mental health
- Family education and support when appropriate and authorized
- Coordination with courts, probation, parole, CPS, behavioral health providers, and other authorized community partners
- Referrals to DHCS-certified, licensed, residential, detoxification, medication, or other specialized providers when a higher level of care is indicated
Areas of Support
Programming may address concerns involving:
- Alcohol use
- Cannabis use
- Stimulant, opioid, or other drug use
- Misuse of prescription medications
- Co-occurring mental health and substance-use concerns
- Substance use connected to stress, trauma, grief, or relationship difficulties
- Court, probation, parole, CPS, or employment-related concerns
- Relapse risk and recovery maintenance
- Family concerns associated with a loved one’s substance use
- Readiness for change and connection to appropriate treatment resources
Evidence-Informed Approaches
Services may incorporate evidence-informed approaches based on the participant’s needs and the provider’s professional scope, including:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
- Motivational Interviewing
- Strengths-based and person-centered counseling
- Trauma-informed care
- Relapse-prevention planning
- Psychoeducation
- Harm-reduction principles when clinically and contextually appropriate
- Recovery-oriented goal development
- Coordination with community treatment and mutual-support resources
What to Expect
Participants receive respectful, nonjudgmental support focused on their circumstances, strengths, concerns, and goals. Services emphasize dignity, personal responsibility, informed decision-making, and the belief that recovery and meaningful behavioral change are possible.
The frequency, duration, and format of services depend on the participant’s needs, goals, referral requirements, and the scope of available programming. When a participant requires detoxification, residential care, Medication for Addiction Treatment, or another service outside our current scope, our team can assist with referrals to an appropriately licensed or DHCS-certified provider.
Important Program Information
FosteringConnections is not currently represented as a DHCS-certified outpatient substance use disorder treatment program, residential treatment facility, detoxification provider, narcotic treatment program, or DUI program. Our CADTP credential applies to qualified professionals and should not be interpreted as DHCS certification of the organization or its programs.
Services are provided within the professional qualifications and lawful scope of the participating provider. Referrals to appropriately licensed or certified programs are made when a participant’s needs exceed the services currently available through FosteringConnections.
